Franziska Herring writes This week, my little green idea involves cutting down on plastic pollution – and a FREEBIE!
Local girl Jenny Derry had a stall for her idea of cutting down on the use of plastic at the 2017 Christmas market in Lichfield – and at subsequent Christmas markets. She now lives in Glasgow and trades on the internet, selling plastic free alternatives to everyday household products on her website https://www.anythingbutplastic.co.uk/.
Last time I ordered denttabs (plastic free alternative to toothpaste) from her, she put in the following note:
"Pass it on to pick it up – refer a friend and a kilo of coastal plastic pollution will be removed on their behalf. How? Send the code below to your like-minded friend. When they place an order, they let us know by writing the code in the 'add a note' box at the checkout phase. We see it, and will donate to our chosen charity partners to pick up some trash. Check out our impact page on the website for more info and rubbish removed to date. Let's get litter picking." The code I was given for my FREEBIE is 33839.
There are also lots of ideas for recycling and cutting down on plastic on the Facebook page of "Plastic Free Rugeley" To what extent could we make our Harvest Festival donations plastic free???
Also let's have a think about our churches. How could they be more ecologically friendly? What about an Eco audit? Contact Barbara Brooks and she can give you some help.
